Preschool is a joyful and important first step in your child’s learning journey, where curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning begin to grow. Our Preschool provides a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children feel safe, happy, and encouraged to explore the world around them. Through a carefully planned balance of play-based activities and guided learning experiences, children are supported in developing early communication, language, social, and physical skills, alongside their creativity and independence. We place a strong emphasis on learning through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences, allowing children to follow their interests while building confidence and developing positive relationships with others. Our dedicated Preschool team supports each child as an individual, helping them to settle happily, develop important social skills, and grow in confidence and independence. By fostering curiosity, imagination, and a sense of wonder, we help every child build strong foundations for their transition into Reception and the next stage of their learning journey.

Early Years Foundation Stage Overview

At the heart of our Early Years provision is the belief that children learn best through play. We provide a range of open-ended learning experiences and rich indoor and outdoor environments where children can explore, make choices, follow their interests, and develop independence and confidence.

Our curriculum is carefully designed to support children’s development and prepare them for the next stage of their learning journey. Through a balance of child-led play, adult-guided activities, and focused sessions in phonics and early mathematics, children build strong foundations in key skills and understanding.

We place a strong emphasis on developing children’s language and vocabulary through stories, songs, rhymes, and meaningful interactions, creating a communication-rich environment where every child can thrive.

We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential in giving every child the very best start in life. Through our Preschool and Reception classes, we use the Best Start in Life approach to support not only children’s learning and development, but also to provide guidance, reassurance, and practical support for parents and families.
